Walking Tour in Zugspitze
Mount Zugspitze, at 2,962m, is the highest mountain in Germany. Zugspitze is part of the Alps and can easily be reached by cable car. During the week you walk around the base of the mountain, cross gorges as the water gushes below through narrow, high rock walls and enjoy idyllic alpine pastures. This tour demands a good basic fitness level as you'll be walking across varied landscapes from good paths right through to forests. Each day should be approximately 5 hours walking at a comfortable pace. Many of the areas are covered by cable cars for the more difficult changes in altitude and you'll get to enjoy stunning views along the way. Day 1 - Arrive in Garmisch Partenkirchen.
Day 2 - A gentle walk through Partnachklamm Gorge to MIttenwald/Klais. Enjoy the flower meadows along the side of this beautiful walk.
Day 3 - Cross the Ghost Canyon using a bridge up to 40m above the floor. Relax as you walk along the waters of the Leutasch Ache taking in the views of the summits of Wetterstein.
Day 4 - A rest day which allows you to enjoy the surrounding area and countryside. If you wish, you can enjoy gentle strolls around the lakes or into Seefeld.
Day 5 - Today you'll visit the nature paradise of the Gaistal Valley. You'll travel up the Ganghofer Path to the Ehrwalder Alpine Pasture which boasts views often seen in films. Finally, relax and enjoy the area as you ride downhill by cable car.
Day 6 - Today you'll walk to the foot of Zugspitze, with the famous Eibsee Lake scenic view.
Day 7 - Depart.
