FAQs
What day can I start?
Most of our tours can be taken at any time but there are some which start on specific days (usually Saturday to Saturday). You will find the information relating to each specific holiday on the website or relevant fact sheet.
What about accommodation?
Most holidays give you the option of choosing a B&B or a hotel, at differing prices. Where these two different options are not mentioned, accommodation is usually limited to a B&B. For further information on where you would be staying on a specific holiday, please contact Compass on 01242 250642 or email steve@compass-holidays.com
What about places to eat?
Most of our holidays are offered at half board, although where a hotel option is available, some are offered at full board. The website and specific fact sheet will have more details about the options on offer. All of tours are organised to pass villages and towns so you will not be short of pubs, inns, and restaurants to relax and eat at.
How does the luggage transport service work?
Compass offers a luggage transfer service so you don’t have to worry about your luggage on your walk or bike ride. We pick up your luggage the morning you are moving accommodation and take it direct to your next stop for you at no extra cost. You can either opt for ad-hoc luggage transfers or have us move your luggage for the duration of the holiday.
Are all the holidays accessible by public transport?
Some of the locations are quite rural and may require a car to reach the starting point, although there may be public transport at certain points along the way. The European tours will require air travel to get to your starting point.
What ages do you cater for?
Compass caters for parties of all ages. We have a large range of bikes and accessories for adults and children. We also offer fully-enclosed and waterproof tag-a-long (tandem) bikes for smaller children who could not ride alone. The routes have been planned with lots of stop-offs and attractions so younger members of the team can rest and enjoy all that’s on offer. Please call Compass at the time of booking to discuss exactly what you will need for your trip.
How far do I walk/ cycle each day?
We offer a range of short breaks and holidays so each tour varies in length. You can determine exactly how far you walk each day, depending on your fitness levels.
Do I have to walk/cycle each day?
You can enjoy additional stop overs at various points along the tour if you would like more time to explore the local area.
How fit do I have to be?
Our tours all vary in degrees of hardness. The website and fact sheets all note whether the walks are easy, medium, or hard going so you can make an informed decision before booking.
What type of bikes do you supply?
We have a large selection of bikes for hire for all the family: adult, children, and tandems (fully enclosed and waterproof) for the small child who can’t cycle. We also hire out the necessary safety equipment to make sure you have a safe and pleasurable journey.
Can I bring my own bike?
Yes but it must be roadworthy and our free breakdown cover may not apply in these circumstances
What happens if I breakdown?
For punctures and minor repairs we do provide toolkits but for major repairs, a serviceman will come out to repair or exchange the bike for you
